City of lakes - Udaipur

Udaipur, also known as the "City of Lakes," the "Venice of the East".

We had made our mind to spend the weekend away from our city, visiting new places, finding out best locations to click, and what not. The point that came to our mind was Rajasthan!

We started to look for our ways to reach Udaipur from New Delhi (our city).

Moving forward, let us help you get an insight of the complete travel details for a splendid weekend getaway...

Total PAX: 2

Estimated cost of trip: 14,000 INR

Number of Days: 3D 2N

Hours of Travel: 12-14HRS (approx.)

Since it was a long weekend we chose to travel, the bookings were jammed to the neck. We got our bookings with 12981 Delhi - Udaipur Chetak Express. Due to foggy night, train eventually got delayed by 2hrs and we reached Udaipur at 10am.

Once we were out of station, we were surrounded by typical "auto walas" that were eager to help you out with instant hotel accommodations by taking to their tied-up hotels @ INR20/-.

Since, we had our pre-booked hotels, we helped ourselves walk out a few meters away from the swamp of people and found a place to stand. We had a negotiation with one particular autowala to drop us to our hotel where he charged INR140/-. With my inherited bargaining skills, we made him to lower prices to INR100/- (not quite low though).

Upon checking Uber (yes it works there), the fare for an Uber Go costed about INR80 to our destination. I felt confident with Uber, as I am a regular rider here in Delhi, made my mind and booked one.

Ignoring auto wala's suggestion, my Uber arrived and we drove towards our destination only to know that the road to our stay was suitable for one car to pass through at a time in one direction. Uber dropped us, with our luggage about 500ms distant from our hotel and we had to hike towards it.

That is the moment when I recaptured the auto wala saying, "check if he would surely go through the streets to your hotel!"

PS: Take the auto to your hotel!

After a humongous search for hotels, we finally made our bookings through booking.com. We chose to spend very less on our stay, considering it will be used only to rest at night.

We made our bookings with Hotel Lake Star, at Chandpole, walking distance to Ambrai. It was a decent hotel, rather a guest house, with fair amenities (TV, geyser, WiFi). A typical medium sized room with double bed, a pair of chair, tea table. The room did not had AC fitted (assuming it will be in coming days). We ideally preferred to have a solid breakfast b
